Therapy should be for everyone.

Not just those who can afford it

The Welcome Room is an independent counselling service offering affordable, face-to-face therapy for adults in Haywards Heath and the surrounding area.

It operates from our centre on Hazelgrove Road, making it part of the same community as held while remaining its own distinct organisation.

The Welcome Room was founded by Elina Demurger-Jones, a qualified therapist who also works as part of the held team. It exists because Elina and Gavin believe that the cost of private therapy should not determine whether someone gets the help they need.

Low cost counselling, without compromise on quality

The Welcome Room offers face-to-face counselling sessions at £30 per session. Sessions are 50 minutes, weekly, and there is no limit on the number of sessions. The focus is on what the client needs, not on a fixed programme.

All counsellors at The Welcome Room are insured, and working under professional supervision.

Who The Welcome Room is for

The Welcome Room supports adults who are dealing with:

• Depression and low mood

• Anxiety and stress

• Grief and bereavement

• Difficulties at work

• Relationship challenges

• General feelings of being overwhelmed or lost

Getting started is straightforward

The first step is a telephone assessment, a one-off call with a qualified counsellor to talk about what has brought you to therapy and whether The Welcome Room is a good fit. This costs £20 and usually lasts around 30 to 45 minutes.

If you decide to go ahead, you will be matched with one of their counsellors and offered a regular weekly slot. Sessions are available Monday to Friday, including evenings.

Part of the same community

The Welcome Room operates from the held centre at 7 Hazelgrove Road, Haywards Heath. It is an independent organisation, not part of held, but the two services share a building and a belief that good therapy should be accessible to as many people as possible.

If you are looking for private therapy at a standard rate, held can help you find the right therapist. If cost is a concern, The Welcome Room may be the better starting point.
